Ramos Ortega vs.
A big weekend, part of Malifaux and one Helldorado! Then, as many questioned the advantages of one or the other, it allowed me to focus more on the issue. Part of
Malifaux opposed to Ramos Ortega (less loco dad, who was not assembled. For my part, I dropped the steamborg).
portion took place in an abandoned village engulfed by a swamp. The terrain was so difficult in all except a few raised islands. The spiders did not care in general. On both sides, we had a target of recognition, but with so few significant models, the only way to win was not to fight ... asking too much between the guild and the arcane.
While Ramos was left behind to complete a third swarm, one was leaving the village to the north and one south. The Ortega chose to stick together, except for specialist melee that went south. The latter was quickly killed by the swarm, due to some lucky cards.
the north, the confrontation was much more difficult. The first swarm Perdita damaged. By cons, seeing that she would not last long, Ramos abandoned the project of a third swarm and sent two mechanical spiders to his rescue. Lacking the agility of his spiders, Ramos began slowly in the mud on the road to support them. Luckily my stoke worked the first 3 rounds ...
Once the swarm DeRuiter, Perdita and her two brothers moved into position to snipe the totem of Ramos. The two spiders had no effect other than to add to the pile of scrap surrounding. The torrent of bullets was because of the brass Arachnid, but Ramos, using both soulstones, emerged miraculously unscathed the fussillade. His attempts in the previous round of cuts in the Ortega who had very little result, he trusted to a winning technique, an electrical construct that exploded in mid-Ortega injured. The swarm south Ortega finished the last.
A very tight, not Ramos to survive as the use of a wildcard to counter a red joker red Perdita who had completed ...
Part of Helldorado (my second, so sorry for my tactics approximate) my demons opposed to a band of Westerners come to plunder hell. I took Azaliah, an ambassador, Fulk, a succubus, 3 lost to anger and laziness. In retrospect, I should make 2 and 2 sloth anger, it would have been more effective.
the other hand, there was a motley assortment of people. Memory, a gunsmith, two pomegranates, an infernal gypsy, a bully, a kind of duelist, a doppelsoldner, sir Shadowdale, his servant and his cook.
In the early game, I approached, conceding a musket firing, a grenade explosion and a lemur from the gypsy. Asaliah took care of that, but I could not survive a second attack of its kind.
Fortunately, the lost of laziness is reached to attract one of the pomegranate while Fulk was killing the other. I ate another explosion of the Gypsy, but it was his last lemur. Coots and Asaliah would be cured, but lost the anger was killed instantly.
To the right, things were better, melee, less explosive. The succubus, a misplaced anger and Ambassador (later assisted by Fulk) is débarassèrent the stove and doppelsoldner. The valet was hard to hit. Since the scenario was to control areas, then I tried to send my demons in all directions, but Westerners reached à achever les égarés de la colère et la succube d'un coup de pistolet dans le dos.
In comparing Malifaux and Helldorado, first of all, I must say I like both. They play different roles and I've already talked a bit about this in another article.
Both have a very nice background, but it is true than Malifaux is more approachable, because it draws from the pop-culture geek. Cowboys, undead steampunk etc. ... Helldorado is more spiritual. If you've always wondered what would be the difference in the powers of hell in a Sunni and a Shiite or between a Protestant and a Catholic, the background will make you a Heldorado tripper. Like the sculptures of the two games, but in general, the consensus leans toward Helldorado for painters. It takes essentially the same number of figures, then it probably will not be the differentiating factor. Ultimately, rules of Helldorado are free while those Malifaux must be purchased. But in practice, both provide cards with the authorities so it can get by reading the book from a friend.
It is at the impression given by the rules that are more differences. Helldorado a game system very clean. To borrow an expression of D6 generation, there are a lot of clarity in the rules.
Courses there, trying to kill two opponents, hide somewhere t'économiser and realize the scenario.
Malifaux narrative seems more even more scattered. Set up, gathers resources, relies more help then baston which may extend over two or three phases before being decisive. This is probably parcequ'en general, figures have more choices of orders and there are several cons-orders or how to cheat to come block certain effects.
Anyway, I hope it enlightens you a little. Of course, we all have time and a limited budget, but talks between 6 and 12 miniatures game, so nothing prevents you both! Helldorado is distributed by Cipher
